FTZ News: Austin, Texas — A Texas Foreign-Trade Zone is supporting the expansion of America’s semiconductor supply chain as advanced manufacturing companies increase production capacity and strengthen domestic industrial capabilities.
The U.S. Foreign-Trade Zones Board has received a new production activity notification for Ultra Clean Technology Systems and Services, Inc. at its facility located within Foreign-Trade Zone No. 183 in Manor, Texas, near Austin.
The proposed activity focuses on manufacturing components and assemblies primarily used in the semiconductor industry, including gas delivery systems, process equipment components, electrical assemblies, and specialized industrial parts.
The approval process allows eligible companies operating within Foreign-Trade Zones to improve supply chain efficiency by benefiting from streamlined customs procedures and more flexible treatment of imported components used in U.S. manufacturing.
The development reflects the growing importance of FTZs in supporting strategic industries such as semiconductors, advanced electronics, aerospace, and energy technology.
Texas has become one of the leading destinations for advanced manufacturing investment in the United States, supported by a strong industrial base, energy availability, skilled workforce, and access to major domestic and international markets.
The state’s FTZ network provides manufacturers with a competitive platform to integrate global supply chains while maintaining production operations in the United States.
Recent FTZ activity across Texas also includes energy and industrial projects. In Port Arthur, FTZ 116 has supported production activities related to natural gas and sustainable aviation fuel facilities, highlighting the diversity of industries using the FTZ model.
Economic analysts say Texas’ Foreign-Trade Zones demonstrate the evolution of the U.S. FTZ system from a customs benefit program into a broader industrial competitiveness tool supporting reshoring, advanced manufacturing, and supply chain security.
